It has come to that point in my life that I need glasses to see my a$$ from a hole in the ground.

Not quite that bad, but bad enough.

Going to the UC Berkeley School of Optometry.
Eye test (latest technology) $66
Frames & Lenses starting at around $100

Sound pretty good. Is that a deal? (of sorts)

Costco's warranty is amazing too. Just take in glasses I've bent out of shape, and they fix em up for me free of charge, everytime.

Costco is cool in my book.
While I was visiting the folks in Vegas over Christmas, crossed paths with Stefi Graff while she was leaving and me entering a Costco there.

The "membership", I think is a scam and totally not necessary.

I've spent as little as $150 on glasses and as much as $600 on glasses.

It's easy to get nickeled and dime once you start adding in lighter weight lens, anti-glare coating, scratch resistance, etc.

Then the bigger suck is the cost of lighter weight frames.

I've had my Kawasaki frames for about 6 years now. I paid about $600 back then, so I'd assume they would cost more now. I've also bought 3 more frames since then, but I keep coming back to the Kawasakis, as I like them much more.

Got the most expensive lenses, but I don't remember how much they were. Nothing extreme for my eye condition...I think I paid around 100 at the very most.

slightly impaired peripheral vision (especially at night), is really annoying - since I only need them for far distance viewing like when driving. Even the lightest ones eventually cause my face to tense up.

Implants have been around in one form or another for some time. The least aggressive is where they cut a pocket in the surface of the eye, and insert the lens inside. That's more of a single vision correction type of thing, and easily reversible. Apparently it's cheaper, reversible, and has less healing time than laser correction.

distance. Need readers now. All of a sudden, day by day eye sight is getting worse. Part of being a 40 something I guess. Damn I'm turning into my father! 8-)

Read your linked article. Interesting!
