I have to get the code for my '97 B4's stereo because of a battery change a few months ago, and Sonnen wasn't able to remove the unit with their tools. I tried making my own tools from binders, but was only able to get one side to click out, no matter how hard I tried. Sonnen is recommending Marin stereo in San Rafael, but I'm still open to suggestions.

haven't gone in yet though. Left side comes out but not the right. Sonnen won't even look at mine.

When I bought the car, I inquired about the Phatbox. Their response: talk to Marin Stereo. Now there's at least two of us here that Sonnen's tools can't currently get the stereo out?

I called my service rep (Les) and practically before I could get the words out of my mouth he was pushing me to Marin Stereo. Said they could take the dash/console apart to try to remove it, which is not covered under warranty, but at some point it's no longer cost effective for me to install aftermarket XM.

Tried wrestling with the HU again myself yesterday, still with no luck.

Another thing Sonnen likes to do is refer people to a local tire place, can't remember which, instead of doing mounting/balancing themselves like so many other dealers do. What exactly do they do there besides sell cars? While I'm on my rant, how about their new loaner program through Enterprise? I guess I missed my chance for a sexy TT loaner. Last loaner I got was a Chevy Cavalier!!

Get your radio out yet?

Been too busy dealing with Sonnen about getting my clutch recall for my TT 3.2 replaced. Thanks, though! Good to know about the tire thing. I live in SF, absolutely won't ever go back to Royal Motors, and am starting to wonder if I should do service down at Rector instead if Sonnen's going to be high-maintenance (ironic term in this case).
