..."All revenue from fines generated by the CHP goes to the local jurisdictions where the tickets are written." Pretty much tells the whole story, though you have to love the attempted positioning of safety as the key goal. They really do think we're all a bunch of sheep.

Ever notice the white tick marks on the side of the freeway? (on places where planes are used) Radar/laser detectors or jammers cannot prevent being ticketed by this method.

Seems like there are always cops out there. The one thing that shocked me in the article was this:

"It was a lame excuse, the kind that would have made Pieschke smile if he hadn't already responded to three fatal crashes this month caused by people whose reasons for speeding were just as lame. One victim tried to beat a train, one was drunk and one went straight ahead when the road didn't."

As far as I can tell none of those accidents were directly related to speeding. Seems more like they were looking for an excuse to raise a little money, and as always look to the speeders as a source. If it actually was proven that writing tickets to speeders reduced car crashes I would be all for it, but to me this is justa wolf in sheeps clothing. Shame on the highway patrol.

And some of them had 2 sets of CHP, most likely the airplane/patrol car one. The V1 saved my arse 3x, but none of them went off due to Laser.

At 2 seperate traps, the cop would get off, and 1-2 miles down, another one would be waiting in hiding, along the lines of giving people a hope that "it's now safe".

Be safe-

It would take those CHP officers 6 weeks to respond by all the trials by mail. They would never do it!

But they have to prove that you were using it, not just in possesion of it.
