I am about to buy tires for my RX7 for track events this winter. I have Thill, Laguna Seca and Sears Point.

I dont know if I should go for R compounds ( V700s or 032Rs) or just buy a decent set of road tires (Kumho MXs, Pilot Sports or AVS Sports)

I have 17 inch Volks for track use

What do you guys think?

Don't know how much track experience you have. If little, stick with good street tires.

If you do go with the R compounds, Winter => rain.
Consider the Toyo RA-1s which are pretty good in the rain.
