On the list provided by my organization:

Hotel Nikko -$180
Hotel Palomar -$210
Hotel Monaco -$209
Renaissance Parc 55 -$219
W Hotel San Francisco -$239
King George Hotel -$140
The Argent Hotel -$225

Not on our list but looked close to Moscone on Expedia:

Hotel Metropolis
Hotel Mosser
Hotel Harbour Court

I like clean modern rooms...not into antiques/victorian/trompe d'oleil.

Your endorsements would help me to decide.

Thanks!

just caddie corner from Moscone........quite nice, and yes, pricey.

Clift is extrodinary, "W" is excellent aswell.

Have a good stay!

http://www.starwood.com/whotels/search/hotel_detail.html?propertyID=1153</a

Is W worth the price over the others?

the bar is full of oversensitive bartenders. We had massive tabs all around, and they were still on the verge of kicking us out. I understand the obnoxious factor, but they had low tolerance even for people not even smashed. :P

Great hotel, but I'm staying at the Hyatt (proximity to where the boat will dock after company party) next week instead due to our bad experience.

W is clean, and has decent rooms with free internet. Nice views of the bay bridge if you get the right side.

I should clarify: I have spoiled myself in 3 & 4 star hotels before, so I know they are worth it in many ways. I mainly wanted to know if say, W is worth an extra $50-100/day over say Palomar.

Thanks for the info on 4 seasons. Stayed at 4 seasons on Kona side of Hawaii for 3 nights with my ex-wife while I was a resident of Hawaii. Absolute heaven!
