Do you know any coin-operated, do-it-yourself car wash in the metro NYC area?
Only place I found so far is located in Teaneck, NJ---20 miles from my place,
and all other car washes on Long Island, Queens etc. are either automated or hand wash/detailing places.
So I drove to Teaneck last Sunday and washed my Pearl as I tried to avoid using hi pressure water and too much soap.
Does anyone know any do-it-yourself car wash places in the NY side?
I checked the archives and Yellow Page but no luck and any information is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Nozomi

The coin-oprated washes are good but there is a great car wash in Manhattan on the West Side Highway at 44th/45th Street. They're a full service facility and they do a real good job. Lots of good equipment (brand new). I bring my new 98 A4 1.8TQT in there about once a week for cleaning and they alswys do a good job. Try them!!!

Brushless...hmmm. Most carwashes today have some sort of brushes in them. This one seems to have an abundance of cloth strips however. If you want to check it out, turn right off of the WSH onto 44th street and park on the right side. You can go into the car wash and look at all the quipment and decide for yourself. I recommend them because they do a good job and are pretty good for NYC. Email me directly for more info on this subject.

Be careful of soft-cloth carwashes too. As someone pointed out on an earlier post, you don't know what sand/grime may be imbedded in the cloth from a prior car.
I don't go through car washes anyway....but I thought that was a good point.
-C.
