is in first gear.

There is a little more that the tranny can get onto the block, but I am doing that tomorrow...

Is it normal that the crank spins? It seems like the block is almost all the way on, but it is not bolted on to the tranny.

When the crank spins the block moves a little at equal intervals...

What are your thoughts? Broken tranny?

Just a little BG on the car:
Accident
2 rods punched through the block

Block taken out

New block went in
When crank turns so does the flywheel. which is logical, but shows that the crank is ok.

all fours in the air.. How are you spinning the crank?? with the wheels?? i did my clutch years ago on and old 00 1.8t and i quickly learned about the open diff on the quattro.. i pulled the trans 2x because i thought i would have the crank move when i had it in 1st or reverse while spinning any wheel.. once i put the car back on the ground all was cool.. those teeth on the input shaft can only go one way in.
