I take my car to an all hand wash place near my house, and when they clean the windows and inside the car afterward, they use this pink stuff in a spray bottle. They also use this stuff to clean waterspots off of the exterior. It seems to be a generic cleaner/polisher of sorts. Anyone know what it is? I see it used at a lot of car washes.
Doug

I know that the Meguiar's Final Inspection is pinkish in color. It is in their professional line, but I can't remember the product #. It is used for cleaning light dust, dirt, bird droppings , water spots, etc. from the paint in between washings, but I never heard of it being used for windows and the interior.
Find a web site that sells car wash products, and they will probably have it.
I've found that car washes are in such a hurry to move cars in and out that they use the strongest, quickest means possible to clean cars. They also think nothing of using a rag on your wheels and then your hood. Yikes!!
DIY whenever possible. It's not that hard, unless you live in Minnesota.
Don't think that's it. I have used Final Inspection when I wash my car at home. It wipes clean when you get it on the windows....but not sure if they would use it as a window cleaner.
Doug M.
Don't let anyone but yourself touch your car. When I take my car in for regular service, I specifically advise the dealer not to wash my car. Yes I am paranoid, but I dress up the car before I take it in so they won't forget my words and wash it.
Why? Because it is too easy to add scratches to the beautiful paint. All it takes is some lazy people rubbing their dirty sponge or wash cloth onto the paint because they don't bother to rinse the sponge often. I use two different sponges to wash separate parts of the car, for example, one sponge is reserved for the wheels and lower fenders, while one is reserved for the roof, trunk lid and upper fenders etc. God knows what dirty rag they will use to wash my car, and how dirty the soapy water is, and what soap they use.
The day my car was delivered was the first and last day the dealership will ever wash my car. Besides, anyone besides me, machine included, will never wash my car.
Wong from North
98 A4 1.8TqMS Tropic Green (as good as, perhaps better looking, than new)
I always ask the dealer not to wash my car, too. Like you, I usually clean it up before I take it in for service and I think that it helps command a little better treatment.
I appreciate the responses, but I don't appreciate the preaching.
I do wash my car myself on average every 1-2 weeks. Sometimes, I don't have time and my car is a mess, so I take it to the car wash.
Life goes on. I'm not asking you to do the same.
Last time I took it to the dealer for service, I told them not to wash the car. It came back with 3 scratches on it, and they washed it anyways. Their auto-detail center buffed out the scratches, but I haven't heard from AoA about the service poll, so I don;t even think they sent the service bill to them.
Doug M.
