Okay, I'm getting ready to give my A4 1.8T a few extra horses.
I plan to order a Garrett 1.0bar chip shortly after Thanksgiving. I am really intrigued about this new "forced induction air intake" that LLTek told me about. If it works, great. Otherwise I'll just a K&N filter.

But in this post, I am inquiring about exhaust options.

I want to get a cat-back exhaust for my car.
Are there any big differences between the different brands, in terms of loudness, hp increase?
Are most brands 2.5" ?
With the many options for exhaust systems, Neuspeed, Scorpion, Remus, to name a few, are there any that are better than others ?
I don't want my car to be too loud either.

Thanks,
Peter

If you don't want too loud an exhaust, but has the increase in boost (similar to, or more than a Remus), try the Supersprint. They're made in Italy, specifically for the A41.8T and conform by the European Noise Regulations.
Good luck.

Have seen past posts where the Neuspeed is louder than other cat-back exhausts. Check archives for each brand for more info.

Exhaust.

Remus only makes a muffler back you will get good performance upgrade from this. i had a Oettinger exhaust which is similar to the remus. it was very nice it complimented my ABT chip real nice. the fit and finish is immaculate. the only thing is that i wanted a manly sound as well. i removed the resonator and replaced it with a Sebring resonator this gave it a nice manly sound that is very controlled. it was never loud at all but emmitted a nice growl. if you get a remus i suggest to get rid of the resonator and the rear muffler cause it is very restrictive. but the only problem is if you go with a cat back they use 2.5" piping with this piping you will get more sound which leads into my Current exhaust scorppion.

I just purchased my scorrpion exhaust and i simply love the hell out of it. the only thing i miss is the quietness of my oettinger exhaust(which i still have). the scorppion is very nice it gives a very responsive feel to the car. i noticed that my car tends to produce a steady 15-17PSI of boost where the old exhaust with 2.125" pipin would only make the car top off at 15PSI of boost.

If you are concerned about power and that is your primary concern i suggest to get any cat back of your choice. the only thing is that you will have a real loud exhaust only during acceleration when crusing it is dead quiet. in my case i was after performance due to my Future GS4 up grade comming soon.

If you want a mild performance upgrade with a nice sound to it. get the Remus or if you live where snow falls get the Oettinger because it is Stainless.

Good luck
