I chipped it when I had just over 6k, now I have over 27k. No problems.

How's this chip drive? My only experience was with the TAP stage 1 and it was pretty nice.
How are they about support, if you need it?
thanks for your help

I chipped around 10K. I drive it hard most of the time. Lot's of trips from DE to NY has put me at 40K miles. The engine pulls strong and smooth...
I'm buying the Wett 235 kit soon! :)
Regards,
Mikro 1.8TQM-Wett Yellow
The only concession I have had to make was to use Mobil or Shell fuel. Where I live, Texaco and Exxon fuel cause the most pinging.
Otherwise, it drives like a 195 hp factory car.
When I had questions- I just called Hoppen and got an answer. Others may disagree, but I am happy.

Adrian, You know most of my ECU story, but today I got my Stage II setup back from Ivor. The end of the story is that Ivor, and his wife Anita, and Jeff all helped me way above and beyond the call of duty. They chipped and re-chipped several ECU's for me even though my warranty ran out last June. All I did was pay shipping. I do not think they had to do as much as they did, and can't say they will do this for others, but I can assure you they will back up the products they sell way beyond your expectations. When I chipped my car in June 97, they were really the only ones doing US cars. This stuff is not brain surgery, I really do not think if some one worked for AUDI, it gives them some magic formula for chip tuning. It's all really just deciding on boost levels, timing curves, and fuel mixture. These things can only be adjusted within a certain perameter, no magic just software and choices, like how far to boost toward detonation. On the 11 psi chips ANY one of the chips you have talked about is a no brainer, it's just not that much strain on the system, the level I would start to be concerned is past 14.5 psi, then fuel and timing become very important as you come close to the knock threshold with pump gas, also this is our Turbo's published limit I'm sure with some safety margin. If you can hear knock, then it's happening before that cause the AUDI's knock sensors are very sensitive. TAP's chips do not knock! They have been the only ones that have had no knock on higher level chips(no ones 8 to 11 psi should ever knock), others have reported knock that seems to have been corrected, but TAP's never did! Even that very poor chip comparison in EC mag reported on this. I do not think these days you will get a bad chip from any of the crop now out, but I really can't say enough about the help TAP gave me. Also Ivor warned me about large sway bars back in June 97, he told me of the problems. I'm not saying do not get a sway bar, just get good advise then decide, Ivor's advise saved me some possible hassles, it's hard to put a value on that kind of experience.
I am not working for TAP in any way. Just my 2cents.

...In just over a year. I also have a K&N panel, Remus rear section, and removed the resonator and installed a staight-through section.
No probs, from 13,000 feet+, to a balmy 100degree/100%humidity day in south florida. The car runs just like stock, only with a LOT more power.
Hoppen's service after the sale is GREAT. I did have an ECU problem, (nothing related to the chip), and I called on a thurs. at 11am. By friday the same time, I had a new one in my hand.. NO CHARGE.
Rich Quinlan
Nowhere enar stock 1.8tqms

Hoppen Motorsport

why do you think the review of the various chips in European Car mag is poor?
Chipped at about 5000 miles. Car runs great with zero problems.
