Depending on how you installed your changer, you'll have to set the orientation switch to either vertical or horizontal. If you have it set in the wrong position, the built-in damping system won't function properly and the CD's will skip.

Perhaps some clarification is necessary. I mentioned this adjustment in a prior post, and someone said something about installing the CD player in an A4 in the horizontal position "of course".

My notice (accompanying the CD changer) says the switch should be

A4 = Vertical
A6,A8 = Horizontal
TT = 67.5 degrees

If I remember correctly, there are also two other intermediate positions.

In my '97 the changer mounts horizontally under the rear deck so I used the horizontal position. A year or so later, they started mounting the changers on end (vertically) in the left-rear of the trunk. And the 99.5 and newer A4's now have it mounted horizontal in that same spot. So there is no "golden rule" that applies to all A4's.

I believe the two switches are located on either side of the changer behind a small access door that has to be removed with a screwdriver. Once that's off, you'll see the adjustment.

I was thinking there was no correlation between the physical orientation of the unit and the "mounting angle". I used the "V" position with my "H" mounted changer in my 1999.5 Avant. I haven't had any problems, though. So, the TT changer is mounted at 67.5 degrees?

There are two "mounting angle adjustment screws" which are located on the sides. You have to remove the unit from the mount in order to get to them.
