Some of you, with lowered suspensions, might be hearing "creeky" noises eminating from the front end, especially when driving slowly over bumps,or driveways. It can be annoying, especially if it gets really loud. Some of you may think it is a result of bushings, etc. but here may be a simple solution.<br>I had this problem and the dealer even attached microphones to different suspension components and the noise was eminating from the top of the front shock towers directly under the springs. Phil, in CT. and I discussed this and simply all one has to do is get a crowbar or heavy screwdriver, pry the top of the spring a little and spray some lithium grease in there. After a few short miles your annoying creeky noises should disappear. If it doesn't do it the first time try it again. I think you'll find it helps quite a bit, if it doesn't solve it completely. I've just begun noticing some creaky noises after about 18 months w/ a lowered suspension. I'll try this immediately.

Gary has pretty much described it, except to say that the area is actually the protective rubber boot that is a sort of flesh color. It covers the piston of the shock to protect it from dirt. If you push on it with a screw driver or anything long enough to get to it, you will most likely hear the noise. All you have to do is pry it out of it's seat (it is not secured)and put white lithium lube on the top of it. It seems to be the rubber to rubber contact at the top that is the vilan.

After posting my other message, I remembered that my A4 seems to creak when turning right, but not when moving straight ahead. Do you feel this is the same problem as the one you describe?
