View Full Version : Help! My 4-year old son detached the "sport" badge from the steering wheel and lost it! (more...) Mike 11-14-1999, 07:50 AM Is there a part number for this thing or one has to get the whole wheel? Any suggestions greatly appreciated! Well I told them at my last service that I wanted it to be replaced free of charge. Turns out they think there is a scratch at the location of the ding...and that therefore through some bent sort of logic I must have been the one who did it because it's not just a ding...but a ding with a scratch. OK well then I said I don't give a S#%T I'll pay for the stuipid badge...so we run over to the computer and guess what...there is no seperate part number for the badge, looks like you've gotta buy a whole new steering wheel. Goes w/o saying I'm really pissed off about this and will be contacting AoA when I get some free time. I saw with my very own eyes on the computer a blow up diagram of the wheel...no where on it did it call out a part number for the badge...just the would wheel part...and a part for the airbag. J VESCIO 11-15-1999, 04:04 AM I just bought my A4 and it too has this "ding" in the steering wheel emblem. Maybe we should file a class action "issue" with AoA!!!! Cathleen 11-15-1999, 05:56 AM The emblem is glued on and pops off with tweezers. I ordered a new badge from my dealer and they charged me something like $20 (ripoff...I know). Mine had a couple dings and looked bad, so I figured I'd just replace it and then try to be careful not to knock it with anything. The new emblem was just like a sticker, peel the backing off and stick it on. Of course, I've still managed to put another ding in it. It's made of a material that is too soft, IMO. -Cathleen (w/sport steering wheel badge #2) Mike 11-16-1999, 03:43 PM nt |
