Here are the 99.5's improvements over the 99 model A4s:
1) Throttle-by-wire
2) Orange side markers replace by clear side markers (aka VW)
3) 2 seperate piece of headlight and clear corners replaced by a single piece with project headlights
4) Cool "Audi" door sills
5) A4, 1.8T/2.8 and Quattro rear badges moved down to A6/TT locations beside licence plate holder and tailights
6) More pronounced front grille
7) Redesign interior with new cupholder on the front, new cigarette lighter, new climate control and besides manual box shifter, there's a classy aluminum surrounding
8) Advance Clay interior replaced Advance Terra Cota interior
9) Advance Onyx moved to Ambition Onyx
10) Stiffer suspension/spring rates on non-sport packaged A4s
11) Aluminum Silver replaced by Light Silver
Hope this helop,
Tom

the 99.5 2.8 should have an electrically adjustable driver's side seat. If you use the search function, somewhere in the past month, someone has posted the letter to Audi dealers which lists the 99.5 enhancements.

There are over 20 changes to the 99.5 and I think all are value adds. I pulled this from one of Andy's posts in
the archives.

Andy writes:

Info pulled from the archives on the 99.5 changes. My additions/comments are in square brackets "[...]":

1. New headlights [projector beam low-beam]
2. Foglights moved [to lower bumper]
3. New tailights [look pretty similar to old lights]
4. C5 outer door handles
5. New rear deck lid (Avant)
6. Washer jets removed from hood
7. Revised outside mirror shape [didn't see any difference]
8. B-pillar hi-gloss
9. New CD changer installation as on C5 ["C5" is the A6 platform]
10. White side indicators
11. Aluminum door sill trim
12. Power passenger seat + power lumbar for both (2.8 only) [I've seen a picture of power-lumbar on a new
99.5 1.8T with cloth Sport seats]
13. Dampened grab handles
14. Ambient lighting in headliner for dash and center console
15. Iluminated air vent controls
16. Steering wheel in dashboard color
17. Revised grille
18. Revised cupholders [including one that pops out of the dash]
19. Revised tool kit
20. Interior/upholstery trim changes
21. Larger C5 sunroof [exterior appears to be the same side, some think the inside is "larger"]
22. [New climate control system]

I have a 99.5 A4 2.8 and I have all of those new features in my car, but I still have to push down to get into reverse.

I have a 99.5 1.8T but still have no other choice but to push down to reverse. I've seen some 99.5 1.8Ts in which you don't.

Strange if you ask me, but not all 99.5 A4s are like that.
