View Full Version : What do your volt gauges read while driving. Mine reads 14. (2.8qms 30v) (nt). Multiply by 6 cells in a car battery and you get 14.1 Volts.
If the battery ever discharges for any length of time (hours) to below 1.85 volts per cell (11.1 Volts) it will become damaged.
Regards,
Mikro 1.8TQM-Wett Yellow Uzanak 10-21-1998, 02:03 PM 8^) Wndrnnr 10-21-1998, 02:13 PM Martin 10-22-1998, 02:31 AM stevebrown 10-22-1998, 06:13 AM I actually could watch my last vehicle's(95 fullsize Bronco with tow-package...upgraded alternator...I forget the amperage, tho') alternator slowly die.
At night, with lights, A/C, radio, at a light (foot on brake pedal), I showed sometimes under 11.0V. This was a problem that slowly got worse, but even from the beginning, transient heavy loads showed up on the needle (at night, as before, with turn signal on).
The A4 has been rock steady at about 14V ALL THE TIME (Knock on wood :) ). Amazing....I know the 2.8 has a larger alternator...wonder how the 1.8T's do?
steve |
