Sound is coming from:
Drivers side, by the rear wheel well. Sounds like it is between the well and the trunk. Is there anything in there?

Sounds like:
From a distance, it's a chirping sound..regular intervals in between. Up close, it sounds like a pumping noise (thump, thump, thump).

Occurs: Intermittently. Doesn't matter whether I'm revving the engine or idling. Comes on, does it for a period, stops. The noise intervals don't change based on idling or revving the motor.

Took it to the dealer last week. They lubed the rear suspension. Apparently, the fill-in service manager didn't completely understand my description, which isn't unreasonable.

Thanks for any opinions and comments.

Thanks for the quick reply, but I don't understand how screws would make that noise?

...the pump (hydraulic, air? that allows the power locks to function.

That's what I thought at first. Then I got under the car and saw the fuel tank and lines on the passenger side so I'm assuming the pump is on the side too. Granted, it's an uneducated assumption.

Thanks for your input.

About the only thing on the left side of the car is the tool kit, but the way you described your noise doesn't sound like that would be an issue.
