View Full Version : New Colour Intsruments in 2000 A4?

I have seen reference to 'new color instruments' on this board and elsewhere. What does this mean? When were they introduced. I'm about to pick up a six month old 2.8q here in the UK. I haven't seen the car yet but am wondering if the instruments and dash will be very different from a 2.8q I had back in 1997.

Any other nice surprises for me or is it pretty much the same car I had back then. The one I'm getting does have Navigation Plus, whatever that is?

Thanks in advance for any comments/advice. (This really is one of the most helpful and civilised group of car lovers I come across!)

Don't you just hate it when the rpm Gauge has 10,20,30,40,50 on it rather that 1,2,3,4,5,etc,....

Makes it so confusing!!!!!

x1000 tach, the way it should be.

I had the pleasure of seeing the S4 dash in the dark (parking garage) this weekend (thanks Wes) and the red looks great (not pink). The white of the A4's numbers, hashes, etc and, especially, the needles of the S4 have a very slight tint of blue in them. This is my feeling, as they look like the white light emitted from the Xenon's.

If I had to choose between the two set-ups, I would choose the A4, only because I HATE the x100 tach that the S4 has.

This picture is of the dash of the S4, which looks a whole lot like the older dash lighting, except the needles are white (and the tach is x100, rather than x1000).

I was under the impression the '00 A4 dash lighting for '00 had white numbers, like the '00 A6. A pic of the A6's dash was posted a while back and did *not* have red numbers.

Here I think I know a few things about A4's....guess I don't know everything, eh? Sorry to confuse folks....I honestly thought the S4 dash lighting was the same as the 2000 A4's, and the S4 dash picture was easy to find in the Picture Poster.

Next time I'll keep my mouth shut unless I know the answer.
