However, alot of people on this forum have changed their brake pads to Mintex red box shoes. There are also Raybestos/Rofren brake pads to be had. I have a 99.5 model. My dealer agreed to change my pads (i bought them) even before i took possession. i bought mine (as well as tons of other forum members) from Andrew at Camra Motorsports. His webby is http://camramotorsports.hypermart.net/brakes.html. Also, do a search in the archives and read all the posts that are there. You'll find everything you need regarding brake pads. Tim 11-09-1999, 07:30 AM I have a 99.5 too and thought that you can't hook up the brake wear sensors on them. What did you do with them? How much were the pads? Tim 99.5 1.8T qms Jim 11-09-1999, 07:52 AM I've had this car for three weeks, and there has been hardly a hint of brake dust. After reading some of the comments on this forum, I was ready for black wheels. It seems that this week, the brake dust is coming a little sooner than the last three weeks. I was just wondering if this is something that diminishes with time or does it get worse? Do other Y2K owners notice a lessening of this brake dust phenomenom? Maybe they have used different brake pads for the millenium? Al Pollack 11-09-1999, 09:29 AM the A4 sensor connectors did not match with the sensor connectors of the Mintex pads. My installer just looped the A4 connectors together so the dash indicator would not light. My car will be well maintained, i'm not sweating not having the brake wear sensors.
