Don't worry, I was having the same problem recently. It's probably the fuel filler door lock. My started out squeaking just slightly, but by 5000 mile it was chirping alike a carary.

When I took the car in for the 5000 mile service I had the dealer clean and lude the fuel filler door lock. The squeak was fixed. It's been about 1300 mile since then and the squeak is still gone.

was to open the fuel door, then lock the car. You'll see the culprit...a metal pin that comes out and locks the fuel door when you lock the car. While the pin was still out, I took just a little WD40 and applied it to the pin. Doesn't need very much lubricant at all. No more problems.

The OBD II (emissions) warning light came on in our '97 A4. It didn't stay on for long.

At the time, we had the space-saving spare on the car due to a flat tire.

The Audi dealer was of the opinion that the warning light was triggered by the smaller spare being on the car. I didn't get any more details because I didn't personally talk to the dealer.

Does this explanation make sense?

TIA!

If I really stretched things, I could imagine getting an ABS light because of the different rotational rates of the wheels, but what effect could the spare have on any monitored systems? I would like to hear an explaination from the dealer! Sounds like B.S to me.
By the way, OBDII alarms aren't that unusual. A couple of misfires or running the engine with the gas cap off are just 2 of the things that will trigger the alarm. The dealer could probably have read the code stored in the computer and had a better idea of what caused it.

My 96 has had several OBDII lights, each caused my an Oxygen sensor error. The first 2 times they tighened up the connectors, the third time they replaced all the oxygen sensors.
