View Full Version : Passenger side door lock failed.... (more&long) Marcus 10-14-1999, 09:46 PM Where do u get this kit from? And wut is the cost? It must be a grip, cause i was going to get the Greedspeed Turbo Upgrade which gives 350 to the wheels. E-mail back BB 11-08-1999, 06:20 AM I unlocked my doors with the remote, and after getting in the car noticed my girlfriend was still outside. Then realized the door did not unlock. (good thing I didn't drive off, ha) So I hit the unlock button in the car, the door made a sad whine of a noise and the lock sorta went up and down in a sickly gesture. I then pulled the door handle, but the door would not open no matter how many pulls. Finally, with some tough love I got the door open. So in short, it's better now but the door is permantely locked from outside and I must open the door manually from in the car with the door handle. Anyone else have anything like this? Guess, I'm off to the service department. While my gf got a good chuckle over my "baby" breaking, I let her drive it this weekend on some twistie pensylvannia back roads. (she has a jap. car) After whipping around for a good 40 minutes, she got out of the car with a spring in her step and exclaimed "that was exciting!" So how could I stay mad about my car, it kicks butt..... '97 A4 1.8T Cupid 11-08-1999, 07:27 AM Tristan 11-08-1999, 08:03 AM My 98 1.8T had door lock probs on a couple occasions. It stemmed from the vacuum lines either breaking or becoming disconnected. (vacuum actuated locks). Kind of a pain, but when they work, they're cooler than the kind that slam up and down like the VW's and american cars. DaveN 11-08-1999, 09:53 AM Mine never completely failed, but the put would run for a long time on unlock. When I tried to cut the line down and put it back on it would just split again, ended up just using an extra piece of rubber hose to connect the line to the nipple. BTW the distribution manifold is under the back seat on the passenger side. Dank 11-08-1999, 11:29 AM |
