There have been tests that favor each for different reasons. V1 seems to have a larger following.
I have experience with neither. :)

It seems that some think because Valentine does not re-design the outer case every year and change the model number that somehow it's dated.

I don't buy that. The Valentine strategy is to purposely keep as much similarity as possible so that any V1 owner can upgrade his existing V1 in the event of a major change.
