View Full Version : Dealer Prep Greg 10-14-1999, 02:28 PM Dan 11-05-1999, 11:02 AM I agree. All these armchair engineers trying to reinvent their car. The car is beautiful as it is. Why risk screwing it up. Perhaps some of these people doing all the talk really are not "Real Car Guys" Stan 11-07-1999, 07:29 AM Does $620.00CDN (approx. $425.00US) seem like a reasonable charge for dealer prep? Stan Cris 11-07-1999, 07:58 AM I think anything over $0.00 (USD, CDN, Yen...etc.) is unreasonable. When I signed the deal for the A4.... there wasn't any extra advertising fee, dealer prep... nothing. Basically, you just agree on the price of whatever is listed in the Audi options list + tax, license fees. Nothing else. They will try to sell you special paint sealant, pin strips...etc, which you absolutely do not need. Unless, of course, you like that kind of stuff. If they insist that you *need* to pay for dealer prep... go to another dealer. Cris PeteP 11-07-1999, 10:11 AM Eric 11-07-1999, 06:30 PM Just got my A4 - CarOrder paid $600 to the dealer for Dealer Prep - I asked the dealer what it was as it supposedly delayed my delivery 4 hours (I recieved the car dirty out the outside, dirty windows, missing interior trim parts, and headlight out. He said "2 hours spent detailing the car, 2 hours spent removing transport covering, and performing mechanical check" hmmm.... what a deal! justin 11-07-1999, 07:08 PM I find that they usually don't charge you for paint sealants and the extras. I think you should talk to another dealer. I've found that within a dealership, some salesmen are better than others when it comes to service. When I bought my 99 A4Q they threw in everything, picking up an S4 this Saturday, and they did the same. Just find a GOOD salesman, and don't pay for the prep. woobin 11-07-1999, 10:53 PM When I was at a dealer, I saw several cars with protective white plastic film on the hood (I mean the entire hood). Also the seats were covered with clear plastic sheets. Dealer do prep all the cars they receive, but they SHOULD NOT CHARGE the prep fees to the customer, because Audi pays for them. My invoice (also ordered through CarOrder.com) does not have any item that resembles Prep Fee. Just the purchase price and tax & license. fattuna 11-08-1999, 03:03 AM Audi does not pay the to clean and prep car. rjs 11-08-1999, 05:43 AM |
