When the car is cold?
When the car is hot?
Somewhere in between?
I am having trouble making heads or tails out of dip stick. When my engine is cold, I don't even see oil at the minimum level on the stick. When the engine is hot, the oil is at the extreme high end of the stick. Then, when my engine has "rested/cooling down" for a 10 or so minutes after being hot, my oil reading is somehwhere in the middle of the zone.
Damn, I have some real difficulty reading the stick and interpreting the oil level. I might have to start taking dugs again.
Any help would be great. Thanks much.

check when the engine is warmed up (e.g., oil temp 180+), on level ground, after letting the engine sit for 3-5 minutes to let oil drain into the sump. The oil expands quite a bit when warm... check the owner's manual for details/procedure, I think it's in there.
