View Full Version : Any problems in lowering A4 1.8T that already has the suspension package?

I have 98' A4 1.8t with the optional sport/suspension package. I have heard stories that cars that are lowered further with springs do not turn out well(the front and rear height is grossly uneven). I am interested in the H&R sport spring set with either Koni or Boge shocks. I would like to lower the front end by another inch and the rear by a half inch. I would prefer to do this without having to lay out the cash for a coil-over setup. thanks, mg

I have H&R Sport/Koni Sport (set to medium). Here's how it came out (measured from ground to bottom edge/center of fender):<p>Before:<br>front = 27.43"<br>rear = 27.19"<p>After:<br>front = 25.93"<br>rear = 25.93"<p>From what I've read, this comes out about 10-15mm lower than stock sport. I've had no rubbing or bottoming out and it looks great. HTH.<p>CraigB <p><ul><li><a href="http://131.107.68.28/a4org/cwbwhls.JPG">Another pic</a></li></ul>

I replaced my sport suspension components with Neuspeed sport springs and Bilstein dampers. The Bisteins have grooves machined into the shock body allowing you to adjust the spring perch height both front and rear.<p>Not only can you level the car front to rear, you can control the amount of overall lowering. They work just fine for me. In fact, I have mine lowered about 15 mm from sport yielding about 35 mm overall from stock height.<p>HTH,<br>Jim<p>PS: see my comments on thread above, "Which Bilstein shock perch position?"
