Hey has anyone had clicking noises behind the climate/radio controls? It sounds as if there's some kind of thermostat or climate system related device back there clicking. Its not a big bother, but I'd like to find out what it is.
BTW, my car has been immune of all the little "problems" with the A4. However, after 9,500 miles, I finally "get" to complain about the damn arm rest squeaking.
Also, the factory front bra scratched the hood during a trip down to LA (from the Bay Area). It fit real well, and looked and felt secure. But after 1,000 miles, the bra sagged and the part that covers the bottom air damn was all mangled. There are no snaps or tie downs for that bottom grill area. The top piece stayed on perfect until you exceed 80mph. Then the thing just flaps and scratches the sh_t out of your hood. My bra for my SE-R never scratched my car. After, polishing and waxing my car (succesfully removed all clear coat scratches), I'll never use that bra again. At least the front of my car is still chip-less which is what its suppose to protect against in the first place. Other than that, I'm pretty impressed with my vehicle so far.
Patrick (P2)
98.5 2.8QMS
Wow, my 1st post in quite some time now!!

I noticed the same thing on my new 99 2.8QMS. Sort of a whirring sound, too. It seems to go away after a while 'though perhaps I just can't hear it. Try turning off the fan - the noise gets progressivly quieter over a few minutes when I do that and I'm curious to hear if it's the same for you.
Fergus

I've noticed them as well. Usually, they occur just after I start my car, and stop after a few seconds. I suspect that they are climate control related.
Tom Halter
98.5 2.8 QM Pearl/Onyx

Yeah, it has to be the climate control system. I bet the clicking has to do with it trying to figure out what temperature it is. I rarely drive the car without the fan on at least. I'll turn it off and see what happens.
P2

I had the same problem with the arm rest. Took it to the dealership for them to tighten up the arm rest and the problem had gone away.
