UF vs. USC is what I was hoping for. PLAYOFFS PLEASE!!! 4wheelLovin 01-09-2009, 04:50 PM TDI 4XMotion (Lee) 01-09-2009, 05:32 PM alms_lefko 01-09-2009, 06:21 PM alms_lefko 01-09-2009, 06:23 PM Thats right... ZERO shutouts alms_lefko 01-09-2009, 06:24 PM Id would be the exact same way if USC played OU and FL finished third FL fans would say 'FL is a better team' Its the nature of the beast Gator Al (Al) 01-09-2009, 09:04 PM I skipped the obligatory 2nd and 3rd. Our coach, our (university) president and our President elect all agree... not that that makes anything right... and I'm not sure where Pete Carroll or USC's president stand... though it doesn't matter... UF pres. Bernie Machen spoke up to the SEC and got put in his place. He still supports a playoff, but won't be "making waves". This season also showed the half-solution of a "1 plus" alternative is folly. College fotball is just a game, no matter how much $ goes into it. It's not hard to "fix" this glaring flaw and the common sense solution of a playoff (duh) is championed by many. That said, we'd beat USC like the pansies they are. TEBOW! ;) Gator Al (Al) 01-09-2009, 09:06 PM WOOT!!! TDI 4XMotion (Lee) 01-10-2009, 02:42 AM alms_lefko 01-10-2009, 04:06 AM Thats what people always say... Sure, 20 years ago it wasnt. Look at this bowl season... EVERY pac 10 team in a bowl WON. (5-0) 100% No other conference did that AWOT extra 23052 01-10-2009, 03:14 PM Each conference: 13 game season 2 non-conference games 1 bye week championship game Keep AP and Coaches polls, coaches can not vote for their own team. Bowl games are set based on AP and Coaches polls and start 2 weeks after end of season (beginning of December) and continue for two weeks time max. The eight winners of the top 8 bowls move on to the playoffs. Playoffs start one to two weeks after last bowl game played. Semis, the following week, NCAA Championship one to two weeks after. Gator Al (Al) 01-11-2009, 11:54 AM Gator Al (Al) 01-11-2009, 11:56 AM AWOT extra 23052 01-11-2009, 01:41 PM Guess you read 'Didn't UF shutout Citadel' as a slam. And to the 'exposed' comment...really? Did you watch the Texas game? 2006, I'll give you that one, I don't know WTF happened there. 2007, mistakes killed OSU and two touchdowns is hardly exposed. 2008, lost by 3 in the last minute to #3 Texas. Not even close to 'exposed'. So, um, since we're rehashing old games, WTF happened to Tebow and the Gators last year against Michigan? :) It's all good man. Pryor will keep getting better and I'd bet money OSU will meet UF again in a BCS game (with better results I hope). AWOT extra 23052 01-11-2009, 01:42 PM Gator Al (Al) 01-12-2009, 08:13 AM You're reading my tone all wrong, fwiw. I guess I'm still a bit bitter at the ungodly rude treatment we got at the hands of the Buckeye fans all the way through Ginn's TD return. We didn't even belong there, they felt sorry for us, etc. etc. I hope for as much controversy as possible with the BS BCS so that we might be rid of it. AWOT extra 23052 01-12-2009, 09:13 AM as long as at the end of the day you respect who you're playing. Sounds like assclowns gave you a bad taste, I promise you, we're not all dickheads :) Congrats on Tebow staying, my fingers were crossed he was going pro, no such luck! So um, what did happen last year against Michigan? Haha, I'm just messin' with yeah. That's why I love college football, anyone can beat anyone, on any given Saturday....damn the next nine months are going to suck. Gator Al (Al) 01-12-2009, 11:12 AM ...and I definitely enjoy some good old trash talk between fans. Before, I thought the FSU and Tennessee fans were... vocal. That OSU posse took the cake! Of course I know that you're not all that bad, neither are we... I will say the Alabama fans at the SEC Championship were the most cordial people I've ever met at a game. The gorgeous 'Bama girls were buying us drinks all night! :P As to the Michigan game... This is a lot different than two years ago. Meyer said Friday he doesn't remember much about the 2006 national championship because he had so many potential problems staring him down in the aftermath. Like how to replace 22 seniors, a handful of talented juniors heading to the NFL, and almost the entire defense... "We lost basically the entire defense and the backups weren't ready to play. We had a void in recruiting. I knew in my heart I knew we had a long way to go. It was like, 'Oh, boy, here we go, we're going to have a hard time stopping people.' " What was coming was a downer of a season in 2007, with perhaps the biggest disappointment coming at the end -- a humiliating loss to Michigan in the Capital One Bowl... "The program is much different than it was two years ago," Meyer said. "We should be very good next year (even if some players leave early). "We'll see who comes back. It's not going to be like last year. It will not be like that. I'll go on the record. As far as the program, it's much different than it was two years ago." story AWOT extra 23052 01-12-2009, 05:59 PM The whole game was back and forth and Michigan had to come up with an unreal game to beat you guys. We'll see next year. Having Tebow back should make you a shoe in to win the SEC and I can see you guys in the NC....again. The question will be, who will you play. OSU...no they lost 28 seniors and Wells is declaring early, Texas....maybe McCoy is sticking around, USC....doubt it they're loosing a lot of core players. "MNC"? = Massacre National Championship?....on second thought I don't want to know (still makes me shutter). Gator Al (Al) 01-12-2009, 06:38 PM I was at the Michigan bowl game and the only reason it was close was that we had <almost> no defense. It was pathetic. Championship teams, in the SEC at least, are always built on defense-- and we had none. I don't mean that as a slight to anyone, it's just the truth 'down' here. Michigan was plenty good to expose our inexperience and the credit goes to them. Cheers! It feels like forever until we get to go through this again! There's a special place in our hearts for the Buckeyes as they got us into the '96 NC game (beat Texas?, iirc) and we admire their tradition. |
