So I want and s4 BAD and I found one. Only thing is there are some issues. It has a salvage title. Thats a big one, seller claims its from a theft recovery. I did some research and florida does salvage titles for theft recovery.
secondly its got 85000 miles. a little high but when I mention the price, thats really the big problem. It sounds too low to be real. But here's the story.
I found it on ebay. Auction ended I bidded 7500. I wasnt the winning bidder, the winning bidder bid 10,200. the reserve still wasnt met. So this guy could have been asking for a reasonable amount for the car. Then I suppose the other high bidder didnt want it. So he sent me a second chance offer FOR 7500!!
Do you guys think this is a serious offer? Or perhaps a Nigerian Scam? It doesnt sound like it to me. And if the guy has the title and ID to match and the VIN matches its for real right?
Even if this puppy has some mechanical problems for 7500 bucks Im REALLY considering it.
Opinions pleas.

j/k. Yes, this sounds very suspicious, but an S4 can be so sweet.......ONLY IF you know the full history and care given the car by the prior owner.
Jon, you still live close by? Ever care to join us for the THursday night happy hours? I am going to try and revive it soon...

Some insurance co's will not insure a salvaged car for collision/comprehensive.. only liability.
I'd runaway, if it was my choice. High miles, unknown maintenance, confirmed that it has been ragged on (at least when stolen)... all leads to a NO in my book. You get what you pay for, and $7500 will get you a headache.

A poorly maintained S4 will manifest its evils in problems with the turbo. When the turbos have to get pulled, you have the remove the whole stinkin' engine. That thing is a plumber's nightmare.
Unless of course, you know how to strip one down and do the work yourself, and you've already got equipment to pull the engine out and such.
This is assuming of course that this is not a scam in the works. I haven't seen a mention of a CarFax report in this thread yet. Did you already get one?
If he's desperate to sell it, perhaps he'll be willing to meet you at an Audi dealer to have it inspected.
Then again, the salvage title is not exactly specific is it? Maybe it wasn't stolen... maybe it's a flood car instead!
The S4 is a blessing and a curse. I strongly suggest you skip this one. The percentage chance that you will see problems is too high given the factors you presented. Granted, you don't even know me, so this advice isn't having the intended impact. Listen to Christian. Run away from this one. Screaming. With arms flailing, if necessary.

Runoverb4 is my roommate, has been for two years now. He's known me for awhile now and knew me when I had my S4. My car had every single thing that you could think of go wrong with it. 4 sets of turbos, one set that blew up within a few weeks of being installed, 3 transmissions, a new engine, boost leaks GALORE, ****ty tuning so that the car never ran to it's full potential, etc...
Granted, some of it was just plain bad luck, some of it was faulty parts and some of it was just due to the fact that I drove the car quite hard (that being said, I expected to deal with some of the issues that I had).
Listen to me man... I've told you already, but maybe it will sink in better if you read it:
DO NOT BUY THAT S4.
There are good cars out there, but don't get trigger happy... wait for a good one.

Rob O. on Audiworld was selling his S4 Avant a while back. I'd do a search, his was probably the cleanest S4 I've ever seen.
