View Full Version : Successful weekend: fixed oil temp issue & engine "burping"

Ah, the joys of owning a car with nearly 90,000 miles. Still a damn reliable car, just needs a little work:

My oil temps have been erratic, and sometimes the gauge hits well over 250 degrees, and it appeared to be a sensor issue rather than actual oil temps (oil temps could not fluctuate that fast). I replaced my old pan sensor this weekend, and now the gauge reads low most of the time, and only gets up there when I really get on the turbo. Problem one fixed. Also changed the oil since you have to empty the pan to replace the sensor.

Second problem was the infamous burping noise from the car at full throttle. Pulled off my Forge BPV, and the boot inside was in fact torn. 30,000 chipped miles on the forge valve finally put a tear in the inside boot. I put in a spare RS6 BPV that I had lying around, and will be heading to Forge sometime this week to buy a new boot for the BPV.

Still to be fixed:
Small water leak in the rear cabin
Xenon auto level sensors acting up
Replace my vacuum injection valve (I've had the part for 2 months, no time to replace it)
Finally install the boost gauge I have had for 6 months (Tom, got any steering column mounts?)

Bill and I didn't get done till 11:30 last night. By the way, pressed in bearings suck.

This is why I need to get moving on making the 4K street driveable.

I am also going to need you to replace my water pump, update the APR software on both cars (need apr cable!), clay bar the blue car, install a K04 and FMIC.
