Nostalgia is good as long as you've retained your market. it does nothing to help you if you continually alienate your customer base. VW needs to really get off thier high horse and realize that these days people want reliability and quality. That is something they haven't had since the MKIV days.

That seemed to be the case as well with several other people I know that had them.

factory- ice cold water on the feet 2 days after purchase! At 35k the turbo developed an air leak and they had to replace the entire unit.

The biggest PITA with my VW was....VW. Had I not become friends with Marcus (incredible tech) I would have traded my Jetta within the first two years.

The turn signal relay went out ($20 part and 15 seconds to replace) but they would not sell me the part without an open counter ticket. Basically I had to pay them an hour labor for something I could do myself. This was a direct violation of the Magnusson-Moss act. Wound up getting the part online and two weeks later VW recalled the part and offered free replacement!

At 80k the compressor started rattling and at $1200 I decided it was time to trade. The Honda has not been perfect either, but so far its only had two minor issues. Glove box lock is inoperable, and shifting to 3rd is sometimes a hassle. Both are scheduled to be remedied. Honda has been a much nicer ownership experience from the dealer/service standpoint. Not to mention when it does go out of warranty, parts will be much cheaper.
