(Repost - this was the last post on the previous forum before the archive).
How did you find Dyment's service? I have found them pretty questionable. I ordered the manuals from them and about 2 weeks later received a very torn up box via RPS. (But it wasn't torn up enough for stuff to fall out, I don't think). The problem I have with them is what was
included in the kit. The kit consists of separate manuals (about 19, I think), plastic covers and library slip cases for the manuals, electrical binder and inserts, etc. There are index cards that fit into the front of each of the slipcases (once you find the right ones, based on the most current date, since they send you every old set they ever produced). The problems are as follows, in my situation:
They sent only 3 slipcases, but the index cards indicate there should be 4 of these.
They didn't send one important manual: 2.8L V6 5valve OBDII manual (117 at end of stock number)
Neither of these are listed on the inventory/shipping form. However it is clear that they belong in the set. (They did send the OBDII manuals for the 1.8T and older 2.8 engines. Each engine actually has 2 manuals - the other one is for mechanical). So, I called them back and explained this situation. After arguing a little while, and trying to present logic, they finally said (2 weeks ago) that it sounded like I was right and they would forward the missing materials (in stock) to me ASAP. Two weeks later (today), not having received anything, I called back. They had no record of anything having been sent, so I had to start over. They agreed again to send the engine manual - for $27. Wait a minute - it was supposed to be in the full set of manuals, per the index. I asked to speak with a manager. After being put on hold, they agree to send me the manual free of charge. We'll see. I have a feeling they forgot about the slipcase, so I may have to call again on that (although it isn't as critical as having all the necessary manuals).
Also, this isn't much of a problem from my point of view, but they actually sent me 2 duplicate manuals in their original shipment. I mentioned these in my first call, and they seemed "distressed" and said "could you send these back to us, please?" Well, I'll send them back as soon as I get my full set of manuals, was my thought.
My questions to those of you who have suffered through this note:
- Are you missing the same engine manual and slipcase? The inventory list that they use for packing is apparently wrong. I mentioned this to them today, but there was no interest in correcting it ("that's not my job").
- Have you received satisfaction from them in resolving any concerns like this?
My advice to future orderers:
Verify what you are going to get before you order. Verify all contents when you receive the order. Unfortunately, they are the only source for this stuff. If anyone is interested and is about to order, e-mail me and I will compile a list of the main things you should receive.
