View Full Version : Anyone get any good pictures of the A3s in the corral? All mine had too much glare from the sun.

I really want an Audi but sadly it's the only one I can afford (well, afford to buy without a loan anyway).

Any thoughts on it?

People under the audi tent said that an option that includes both the 2.0T engine and the quattro system will never be availible in the US, only with the 3.2 engine. I don't know if the lady I talked to just didn't know what she was talking about or if it is true though.

Add the S-Line CHs in 18" (that's correct, one of the S-Line wheels is the BBS CH with Audi center cap) + Euro front bumper (there is currently a version in Europe without the Bass mouth) + lowered slightly + MTM chip (250hp) = faster and more practical than what I drive now.

Did I mention the super cool sun roof? Or the TT+A4 like interior...

A fwd car can be quite sporting. Quattro adds cost, decreases fuel economy and is one more thing to break.

Whether the conditions of Dry, Wet, Sandy, etc... I know i have a lot more control then a freaking FWD.

I'd take anything they said with a grain of salt.

We had one of those sort of people in the car with us, when we did the D3 test drive here last Fall. D3Aeight and I knew considerably more about the car, than she did.

Not the nicest, or the coolest, but the easiest one to see myself in (both financially and aesthetically).

The Audi rep also agreed that it is absolutely retarded for Audi NA to not offer Quattro on the 2.0T.

bringing the 2.0T quattro here, we get all the clubs in the US to make some noise about it.

FWD is extremely predictable, very nearly the match of quattro as far as stability is concerned.

I'm a fan of quattro, just not on a sub 3,000lb compact car. I think Audi makes the best luxury sedans today and quattro is a large part of that.

I doubt that you utilize the benefits of quattro every day in FL.

over the more powerful 3.2 because of it's tuning capabilities and how I thought it was silly to not offer these same enthusiasts the famed quattro system, and she started telling me about this "electronic drive tech" system or something that helps you "control the car." At that point I just thanked her for her time and walked away.

Silver METAL paddle shifters on the column. How come my RS6 only has plastic ones???

The new transmission that I think is called DGI or something like that. Suppose to anticipate the next gear so it responds quicker.

The Price! Something like $25000 for a cool looking avant style vehicle? Audi has a slam dunk on their hands.

oh, and it goes. With, or without jelly ;-)

But yeah, I wouldnt bother upgrading to an A3 if I couldnt get Quattro. Depending on how the new V6 runs in that car, I might consider going that route, but I doubt it.

Does the A3 use Haldex, or real Quattro? (Torsen?)

I think that audi is trying to bank on the quattro fans. they are introducing this new model that is more affordable for people who normally wouldnt buy an audi. Therefore, for the people that already do buy audi's and want quattro, they dont want to give them a cheaper option. i think they are trying to force those people to buy a B7 A4 or an S3 when it comes over. I'm pretty sure the S3 will have quattro, not too sure if it will be a 2.0t quattro though.

what do you guys think? does that make sense?

I was told this by Ulrich Riestenpatt from Quattro GmbH.

All S and RS models are Quattro.

or better yet when I have 500whp I'll have a hard enough time putting it down with Quattro. I think your statement is a little broad IMO. Also in our swamp of a state I use quattro everytime it rains.

Red/R32(Nick)

And a salesman, who's name I won't mention, said that when they went to Miami for the launch of the A3 'that it really needs the quatro. We were spinning tires all over the place!'

You may use 'esp' or whatever the audi stability program is but you certainly don't benefit from quattro in the rain. If you need quattro to drive safe in the rain then you're driving too damned fast for conditions.

(In my S4 I would take a hi-speed highway turn at over 80 in heavy rain...no other car could do it but I still realize it was unsafe)

You are right, 300hp goes over better with quattro. My fwd A3 will have about 250 and will be just fine. I don't know the curb wt. of the A3 but an extra 200lbs, added expense, and worse fuel economy wouldn't make quattro worth it.

powered through a nice turn today after a light sprinkle. When it's pouring out I don't drive crazy and your right it wouldn't matter if I had FWD. I don't have esp thankgod, and I said 300WHP. I would like a ride in your A3 if your gonna have 250whp in it though.
