Time to sell the '95 Accord (5-sp) and expand the cargo capacity to fit the puppy better (70 lbs. and growing). [My keeper is my '88 RX-7 (134K and still fun).] And an Avant is the ticket. I know of current dealer incentives ($500 - $1500) on '98 Avants -- I suppose a fully loaded model gets the dealer the higher incentive (probably the highest for a stick?). One dealer is offering to sell several cars on his lot at his invoice price -- shouldn't I expect to do lower than invoice given these dealer incentives? Plus there's that "depreciation" factor in buying a new car, yet older model year -- for example, www.kbb.com (Kelly Blue Book site), indicates a "suggested retail" price of $29,900 for the car I'm considering, yet the dealer's invoice is $31,907.<p>Wanted sport pkg, and am somewhat limited by what's around in the region.<br>The $31,907 invoiced Avant Quattro Manual (melange metallic with 12 miles) includes real leather (onyx), all weather pkg, sport pkg, sunroof, Bose stereo w/6-cd changer (audio pkg "PAS"). Invoice date is 8/24/98. <p>The dealer mentioned he'll sell at invoice to "clear out" his inventory, and "settle for the dealer holdback" plus I imagine he'll get the additional (up to) $1500 incentive from Audi. I'm looking for feedback to help me determine my negotiating posture -- is this car a steal at invoice, or can I realistically buy this car for $29,900 (or even less)???<p>One way or the other, I'm buying an Avant, and look forward to contributing to this forum in the very near future. Since my local dealer has NadaZilchZip in stock (and limited my test drives to non-highway travel (major goof on his part)) -- [oops, is that a sale he sees walking away], I'm dealing with an out-of-state dealer through the web, I have not actually seen the melange color except in brochures, nor heard the upgraded Bose system -- any comments on the stereo? I usually install nice audio systems in my cars post-sale (maybe not the best but ADS, alpine, no major 'woofing (but always solid low-end!). Any gloating or gripes on this Bose system, or were you still compelled to upgrade?<p>I'll be checking this car out in 2 days (given it hasn't been sold).<p>Thanks for feedback!<p>
