I wasn't even going to attempt to go buy wood, but I've got a few large pieces up in my attic I can easily pull down, I've got a bunch of other 1/4" shelf boards and things that are wide enough to use and a bunch of 2x6's and some 2z4's Bling Bling picked up some tapcons for me and I have regular wood screws. I'm also going to unbolt my 2 fence doors and use those to cover sliders. That also helps in preventing them from getting blown right off and breaking posts.

and we just traded shifts with my dad. The line went from lumber down the middle isle of the store down to the garden center and back to lumber...

Going back now to relieve dad...

No way was I going to wait in line for hours at Home Depot or Lowes. I do have spare hardwood floor planks in my garage I can put up if needed. I will wait until tomorrow afternoon to confirm the storm path and wind speed before I start drilling into my concrete outside walls.

Here's to hoping we just get brushed by instead of smacked again.

Screw waiting all day for $20 sheets of plywood. I had 2 80x30 interior doors and 1 80x24 which covers most of my large front window. A few 2x8s I ripped off my house today off some "artistic" lattice work will fill the rest. I finally had a good excuse to remove this lattice work as i've been meaning to do it since i moved in. The doors, while they are hollow, are better then nothing, and it's free. That large frnt window is the only one in major tree/debris ways.

Fortunately for me, the lattice was attached to a wood header on the house, so I only had to screw into that, and below the window, I put a 1/4" strip with 3 tapcons, it's so low, I may just leave it and paint out it for future hurricane needs.

I'll wait until tomorrow to assess the rest and go about putting more easy to see holes in my stucco for my rear sliders and any side windows. Those will be much easier then this frnt window was anyway. My sliders are underneath an overhang and there's no tree/debris for 100ft, so they should be ok regardless.
