0-40 is the ONLY Mobil 1 approved. Interestingly enough, it also meets 3 of the VAG 500 specs.

what brought on the recent oil sludge concerns? I've been running 15/50 for over 90k miles and most of everything is very clean inside the engine.

alot of people went 12-14 k on oil changes, there are alot of others that were using poor quality oils that would not hold up to 10k miles.
to get a engine replaced you cannot exeed 20 % of the recommended time or milage and have documentation of services.
