Orlando people, I think its better to support a local technician then go south to miami and put another 400 miles on your car to save $50 bucks.

Good deal, I guess we need to build a list of who all is interested.

j/k...i called an asked him what kinda discount he could give the audi club, i think 20% is reasonable, only bad thing is he won't warranty parts that are from an outside source, because of legal problems he has had with aftermarket parts.

He has an agreement with his warehouse which is an OEM reseller of german parts that will warranty all his claims directly and ship new parts to him the same day. ECS would not do that. A regular distributor would not provide him with the service he needs or the wholesale prices for parts.

So if the product looks good and I can see that there are no faults I certainly don't have any problems giving warranty on the labor at the very least. I don't even have a problem with giving limited warranty on parts which I'd cover out of my own pocket if I have faith in them.

due to faulty parts and the manufacturer not backing them. He is still dealing with lawyers because of it.

give us a warranty on them.

and they agreed that they were faulty. He will warranty his labor if he sees that it was a mistake he made. Its the parts he will not warranty

He usually sells them at wholesale cost to me, he will probably do the same for the audiclub.

I'm not sure if everyone wants to drive 400 miles round trip to get a timing belt changed.

the group buy would also need them installed. Well, at least those that are in Orlando...

We need to make sure that we are getting the same number of parts (tensioners, thermostat etc) and the same OEM manufacturers.
The best bet might be to print out the pages from ECS' site and take them to him. That way he can quote on the exact same kits.
The labor sounds like a great deal...especially if we can get OEM parts and warranty.

they may have OEM part numbers but those are for reference, there are different companies out there that make OEM parts for VW/Audi, the ones used by dealers and direct distributors have specific manufactures they use. I don't know what the differences are, but that is how henry explained it, he worked for vw/audi for many years so i beleive him :)

so what does it matter which one we get the parts from? If the parts have the VW/Audi trademarks on them, I find it hard to believe they are not OEM.
From ECS' site:
Kit includes the following parts:
OEM timing belt made by Continental
OE tensioner Roller made by Ruville in Germany
OEM tensioner assembly made by Ruville in Germany
OE Idler roller (comes on the tensioner assembly)
Ruville is the OEM manufacturer for V/W & Audi for many of these items, in fact the tensioner assembly that comes in the Ruville box is a OEM part with **OEM insignia's & part #'s **

the waterpump and thermostat are OEM replicas, which are probably better quality and cheaper. And yea there are insignas and OEM numbers, but a lot of parts manufactures put that on their box that doesn't matter
doesn't matter where you get it, but the shop said they won't warranty it if you get it from somewhere else, he has his reasons, so i dont' care where you get your parts from, you just have to know that you won't get a warranty on your car using your parts.
If i was a shop, i would also want to use one supplier and have the parts bought through me, most likely his reasons are because warranty claims are easier to deal with and he can return parts and get new ones if they are wrong within a day.
btw, i knew u would argue on that flowers, u always got some **** to say :)

metal. As long as he is quoting prices for OEM parts (with Rings and VW stamped in the metal) and not NAPA parts then I am a happy camper.
