Since I and a few others will soon be replacing timing belts, we should use our collective buying power and cut a deal with ECS.
The two kits they offer for the 1.8T are:
"Ultimate"
Kit includes the following parts:
OEM timing belt made by Continental
OE tensioner Roller made by Ruville in Germany
OEM tensioner assembly made by Ruville in Germany
OE Idler roller (comes on the tensioner assembly)
Hepu water pump with metal impeller
Accesory drive belt
Thermostat (Wahler)
"Basic"
Kit includes the following parts:
OEM timing belt made by Continental
OE tensioner Roller made by Ruville in Germany
OEM tensioner assembly made by Ruville in Germany
OE Idler roller (comes on the tensioner assembly)
*They do offer kits for other engines, but for the sake of brevity I did not post them here.
I will do all the leg work, but I need FIRM commitments from everyone. If I dont know you, cant get someone I know to vouch for you, or just plain dont like you, I will require a deposit.
I plan on calling Friday to negotiate with ECS, so lets set the cutoff date as Thursday. Obviously, the more people we have the better deal we get. Depending on the deals they offer, I may even include members from other boards.
So post the following info below: Year, model, engine and your real name.

The one ecs sells is not the best one and people have had their water pumps leak because of that gasket.

Since you will be buying the kit (parts) seperately, henry can not put a guarantee on those parts only the labor.

and thats for the timing belt only. If you get the ulitmate kit you'll have to account for the R&R on the waterpump to replace the impeller....

I'd like to get a new valve cover gasket kit also, ask if they'll give us a decent price on adding that in.
Thanks,

I know that shops like to stick to book rates, but if we are bringing a bunch of cars, they are going to be able to do it much faster than 8 hours each. Maybe 6 hours on the first one, and then it will take them less and less time from there.

Hope that helps.

And yes, it is too good to be true, I'm kicking myself now for offering it that cheap. But I'll stick to it. I'm just now starting a biz (just got here from europe) and I could use some clients and good word of mouth. I figure $80 is an honest day's pay. (feel free to tip though ;))

This is seriously one-time though, and you'll owe me repeat business :)
Keep in mind that a few bolts need to be replaced. Fell free to bring me your own (get them from your dealer). I think I'm a half hour from the nearest audi dealer so It'd be appreciated. Ill let you know which you need if the dealer doesn't know. Just get me the engine codes.
I'm assuming we're talking about ATW/AEB and AWM engines? or do we have 6cyls too? (not a problem, but a bit more time consuming, especially the AHA/ATQ 30v)
Let me know,
Greg

basically high-end performance tuning. Taking apart and lightening engines, intake and exhaust systems. Obviously braking systems and suspension as well but those are more ready-made components that just need a little adjustment.
Spent the last 3 years living by a race track in the Netherlands (TT Circuit in Assen, for those familiar with moto GP) maintaining (tuning) a few rich stinkers' cars as well as a dozen other cars.
Cars I've worked on ([race] tuned):
Ferrari 360
Cayenne TT
Lotus Elise Mk 1
BMW 3 series (318, 325)
Audi A4 (1.8t & 2.8)
Audi A3
VW passat
rover 216/220 gti
Ford focus
peugeot 206
opel astra
fiat punto

Included timing belt, tension damper, tension roller, alt belt, a/c belt, p/s belt, water pump & gasket, termostat & O ring, bypass valve, and 2 vacuum hoses. Price was terrific, but more importantly the work was done well and on time.

2.9 hours for timing belt, and .5 for water pump at $60 per hour = $204. He did not charge me labor for the other three belts and BPV.
Classic quoted $578 labor, including 1.0 hour at $87 to change two intake vacuum hoses (a bit silly for 10 minutes of work).

Contact John Studdard, our regional club guy in SFL. He can make sure you get the email updates on club meetings and events, and once you start getting involved, you will find LOTS of work. Heck, people in SFL post here at least once a week asking where to have performance parts installed/service work done. Allign yourself with the club, and you will get plenty of work.

his email is john@audiclubfl.com. Let him know you talked with me, and he will be more than happy to include you in our events and send club members your way.
I would be glad to pay up front or put a deposit down. Hadley and Jorge know me but other than that I keep a low profile around here. Also, I will not require the group buy on the installation of the kit. Thanks for the time and effort in putting this together.
