I have clear front turn signals with clear bulbs, but the bulbs dont shine that brightly, and appear almost brownish next to the headlights. Is there any way to get brighter bulbs?

View Full Version : Is there any way to get super white bulbs for front turn signals? Is there any way to get brighter bulbs? _rl 11-03-1999, 08:50 PM I have tried to search for whiter bulbs for the fron turn signals with no positive outcome. everywhere i go only has super white type bulbs for honda and acura fitment only.. _rl 98.5 2.8qtip [a!/lltek/jahn/nitto/axis/kamei] 2000 s4 on order soon =] Chris K 11-03-1999, 09:11 PM I have the white bulbs on the corners. Actually they are coated blue (just like the white bulbs made by piaa, solaris, etc.. but they are painted even bluer) They shine to a white light and when the blinkers are turned on they are pretty bright. However they are not any brighter then the clear bulbs you currently have. Also another downside to them is the fact that you can see the blue from the bulbs when you look straight on at the car when the lights are not turned on. Downside is that although they look really white when the turn signal is on, they still look blue-ish normally as park/corner lamps. This is because 5 watts is not enough light to fully penetrate the blue coating on the bulb. Yes, these things are coated blue. So when they're not on, they are really blue inside your corner lamps. Same silly look as the blue reverse bulbs you see sometimes. One store told me they only had Japanese fitment as well. However, I know for a fact they make #1157 compatible bulbs. Although our stock bulbs aren't listed as #1157, it will work. I have true amber (yellow) #1157 bulbs in my corners right now. So as long as the bulbs look like #1157 bulbs, don't listen to those store guys. Sometimes they think they know more than they do. Those bulbs are super expensive as well. Not worth it for me. Hope this helps. The ones i have in the corner now are bought from audi for 2$. _rl jasyn 11-04-1999, 05:23 AM i've seen a few civics w/ clear front turn signal lenses and bright white bulbs. while it may seem cool to the driver and friends it's bloody annoying when youre facing them in traffic at an intersection. head lights you can adjust down .. turn signals you cant. theyre brighter than the headlights! imagine someone flashing their brights at you continuously at a stop. that's how bright they are. same thing goes for clear brake lenses. use the amber/yellow/red bulbs for the turn signal lights. it's definitely less distracting .. and less dangerous. blinded once too often 99.5 1.8tqms apr -jasyn Jeff K. 11-04-1999, 07:18 AM I saw a packaged out Civic with aftermarket side markers, but they weren't for signaling, they were bright white an ON ALL THE TIME!!! Talk about stupid. Chris K 11-04-1999, 04:42 PM I got them through a friend. He ordered them from Japan I think. Chris K 1.8 TQTS Garrett |
