A4 fwd 1.8t.
Noise is irritatingly loud from th front tires.
They're stock Michelin Pilots 205/60 HR15.
Had wheels re aligned. Still noisy.
Should re-balancing them make a difference? Ther is no steering wheel vibration though.
I have tried burning some rubber by going full throttle form standing start with the hand brake on, to try to even out any tire irregularities.
Is this advisable?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say, don't do that. Periodically, tires do need re-balanced after a rotation. It depends how long its been since your last one. Generally every 5k or so will keep them "tip top" without a rotation. Also, how did they rotate? Front to back and vice-versa or did they criss-cross?

I must admit I've never had them balanced since I got them. Dealer said no point if there is no vibration. It's now done 48000kms.
Rotated it front to back only for the first time 4 weeks ago. Regretted that.

A good rule of thumb is to balance if rotating with 12k mile intervals. If you keep it to 5k to 7k, you should be fine without balancing.

I had the same problem even though mine were rebalanced. I went too long without rotation. They will gradually smooth out. It took about 3k very unpleasant miles for me.
