I need some help concerning my '97 A-8 in Sarasota. First issue is its hunting for a gear around 40mph. Feels like torque converter lockup problem. Only 42,000 miles on the car. No history of fluid changes available. Do I need a reprogram with VAG-Ross-Tech? Anyone have one in the Sarasota area? Next just installed water pump and timing belt. But the leaking fluid persists. Instructuions say to anticipate leakage, but for how long after instalation of pump do I mop up the garage floor before concluding either faulty new pump or bad diagnosis of old leak? Any way to accelerate water pump bearing sealing with the heat cycles of the engine? Anyone know of good mechanic in Sarasota? Any help appreciated.
