Hey All:

Been considering my first Audi since last fall and am now ready to move. I want an A6 4.2. Trouble is, Classic never has one. Are these rare? Is this the case in Tampa or Jax? I went by Classic twice this past fall (Nov. and Dec.)--once there were none and the second time a salesman pointed me "to those 4 lined up over there". When I pointed out they were 3.0's he was quite surprised. Not to fear, he told me, they had one in the shop and he would go get the keys. He came back on the lot and told me that it was in back in the shop as the "battery died from sittin' out here--you can look at the inside, though." When I told him I was not interested in looking inside that I would come back when I could drive one, he was perplexed. Today I called and still none in stock. "Plenty of 3.0's and one 2.7."

Hey, this may be an Audi thing and I don't want to pick on Classic. Anyone have any insight/suggestions for me in locating a car? (I realize we are coming to the end of the model life on the current line...)

Thanks...

Tim

While they are great cars they just don't sell as fast as the 2.7. the premium in price iis too much for alot of people. Have you driven one? if you know what you want I am sure they can order one.

The 4.2 looks a lot better than the 2.7 due to the greater degree of flaring on the fenders, and the wider stance. But the 4.2 only has 50 more hp than the 2.7. For as little as $600, you can get a software chip that will increase the 2.7 to 310hp. You will be saving about $10K under the 4.2 price. Only downside is that the 4.2 will still look better with the fenders.

As to their limited availablity, Audi does not move a lot of the 4.2s, so it will be hard to find one.
