Advantages:
- No down time.
- Spare if you need a software upgrade (some folks have needed advance twicks so it doesn't ping).
- Easy to remove for service if your dealer is not chip friendly, you can also do this with a socket, but there are ESDI issues (static can blow your ECU up).

Disadvantages:
- Just one, it costs more.
