IS there a difference in winter tires vs. all-season tires. i know the obvious difference, but i meant little things. important things to know about. for example, if i should get winter tires would they be okay to drive in terms of performance come spring and summer? How are the all-season tire's performance when lets say i were to drive up to a mountain for a little skiing? im really confused....

In my personal experience, there's a huge difference in snow & ice performance with true
winter tires vs all-seasons. All-seasons are a compromise in every driving condition. In
other words, they work OK but aren't great in anything. You really shouldn't use winter
tires during any season except winter. If you plan to get a set of winter tires, then you
should have a seperate set of tires for spring and summer. Tons of info in the wheel

16 inch tires...don't know if it's any good yet... no snow fall yet...but they look good.

I think you'd be better off to get some winters if you plan to go up to the mountain more than a few times.

Otherwise all seasons are fine for city driving -- I had the z-rated tires and had no choice.

TireRack's website. They go through alot of the differences. you can shop snow tires and read reviews of any particular tire that you are interested in. Also check the wheel forum and post tire questions there because Eddie from tireRack and Gary from Ronal read and post there frequently. (NOT a post-this-in-the-right forum-statement)I ordered my tires from Eddie at Tirerack. I e-mailed him for his opinion of which snow tires might wuit my needs best and he replied within a day or so.
