I'm ready to chip damn it!

I usually have a bunch to sell....but not for 2001 drive-by-wire. Question is....why do you want a spare ECU? As long as you are in the club, the techs will be fine with you having a chipped car....but you will want to make sure you buy a quality chip that the techs approve of. There are some chips that techs do not like for various reasons. Email me for more info....

I want a spare ECU in case something should happen to the chipped ECU. My wife will be pissed if she has to drive me to work, while the 'new' car sits in the garage, broke. I know my role, "yes dear" :)

If you send the ECU out at your next service I will send out your ECU and give you a LOANER ECU till yours comes in. Also I am getting pretty good deals if you go with MTM. They are usually more expensive but I kind of like them.

I kinda want the spare on hand just in case. That and I'm not too familiar with MTM. Is there someone in the group who has the MTM chip, and will they be at the meeting Saturday?

But, as christian noted, I think you are being very overly conservative having an extra ECU. The chances of your car not working at all due to chipping is nil.

Turns out, his chip fried his ECU (bad soldering was his quess). I don't think its overly conservative, more overly cautious. If I was overly conservative, I'd have APR chip my car to 11psi instead of 1 bar. I'd much rather be safe than sorry. Not that big a deal, was just trying to find someone with an ECU price better than APR.

I've contacted Barry @ Clair to see what kind of price they have. If they can't do better, I'll just have APR chip a new ECU.

I look at it like an insurance policy on my modded bliss. No fun in saying , "my car is chipped" if the damn thing won't start.
