From what I understand, BMW has paid somehow for the rights and they provide the vehicles that Bond drives. It's a marketing coup if you ask me. Brilliant (on BMW's part -- wish I'd thought of it for them.).

Personally, I am offended that money has won out like this and that Bond is driving something that is not of a British lineage. (Don't give me any BMW owns Rover arguments or whatever.) James Bond is a British secret agent and he should as always be driving an Aston Martin or Jaguar or Lotus or anything else from that country... but not a BMW or Audi or GM, etc. I think Ian Fleming is rolling over in his grave.

Don't get me wrong, I like Audis and BMWs. It's just that in the history of James Bond up until the Brosnan era, he always drove British vehicles.
I think he always should.

The great thing with Bond is that in all the old ones everything is unique, an Aston Martin instead of a Ferrari or Porsche, an Omega instead of a boring Rolex. Everything had its place,no matter how much I love the new bond movies they are just missing something with BMW. I mean the Z3, an underpowered $30,000 piece of tin, NOT A BOND CAR! The 750 was more to the point but it had 4 doors, not a bond car. The Z8 is finally up to speed with what bond should be driving but it still dosen't give the Elite feeling that the Aston gave.

Just my humble opinion.

An Aston Martin would be perfect. Jaguar is a bit too common in comparison to the Astons.
