PETIT LE MANS RESULTS:
The Annual Audi Alley Corral at Petit LeMans was a great success as always! Well, by now you have probably heard all the crazy stories about Petit Lemans and our Audi corral, so we'll skip over that part and get to the race results:
Audi swept 1st, 2nd, and 3rd; the factory car of Pirro/Biela in 1st, Johansson Gulf Audi in 2nd, and the Champion Audi in 3rd. As for the Speedvision World Challenge GT race, the Friday race was won by Galati in the Champion S4/RS4, and Derek Bell finished 3rd in the other Champion S4/RS4. For Sunday's final World Challenge race of the season, Galati finished 2nd behind the Realtime Acura NSX and Bell once again finished 3rd. The 2 finishes for Galati in the World Challenge races this past
weekend clinched the Drivers championship title for Galati, and the manufacturers title for Audi. The final race on October 7th will be broadcasted on Speedvision on November 9th.
OCTOBER MEETING - 10/20
This month's meeting will be held on October 20th. I figured everyone needed a break from Audi events after Petit LeMans, so we will postpone the meeting until the 3rd Saturday of October. I will once again be bringing Audi videos on CD-ROMs for anyone who did not get their copy at the last meeting. I am also arranging to have a new 2002 A4 at the meeting for our inspection. Meeting will be at Kelseys at 2pm as always.
AUDI PLM T-SHIRTS AVAILABLE
Many of us will be sporting the Audi Alley Corral T shirt from Petit Lemans. We had 108 printed for the corral and sold out by early Saturday morning. So, we will be doing another production run for anyone who missed out on these shirts the ride the edge of automotive fashion. Once you see this shirt, I am confident you will all want one. Price is $15 and all profits go towards Petit Lemans and Sebring Corrals.
ANNUAL ORLANDO NEW CAR SHOW - Nov 28th - Dec 2nd
Once again our club will be attending the annual new car show at the convention center and reeking havoc on the Pontiac Aztek display. This year's car show falls on the weekend of Saturday, December 1st and Sunday, December 2nd. I will be taking a poll as to which day is best for our club members to attend this show as a group and try and line up some discounted tickets.
2002 A4s AVAILABLE AT LOCAL DEALERS
The all-new 2002 A4 is now available at both Classic Audi in Orlando and Continental Audi in Melbourne. I have checked these cars out in person at Petit Lemans and was very impressed with the new look?.much better in person. NOVEMBER TECH DAY IN SARASOTA...WITH AN RS4!
I am working with Suncoast Audi in Sarasota to host a tech day for the FL club on November 10th which will include rides in the famous RS4 that Hoppen has imported. More details will be announced at the meeting.
OTHER UPCOMING EVENTS:
The planning for the Audi Alley Corral at the 12 Hours of Sebring has
already started. I have secured the same spot as last year and am lining up sponsorship for the corral. We will also be planning a trip to the Miami ALMS race in April and will also have a spring driver's event once again at Roebling Road.
