summed up:
1) use a dremel to cut pins (easier)
2) don't bother taking relay cover off, just solder the pin faces and cover with electrical tape
3) after screwing up and soldering the wrong pins, I am now an expert at getting the relay back IN, so if you want assistance, let me know. It takes me about 60 seconds to get it back in.
