Craig Peterson, the guy who did this test, used to be a consultant for Bell and Passport, and most people agree his tests are bogus and full of sh!t. Here are some interesting facts about this panzi who has admitted to being a consultant for all the detector manufacturers, except for Valentine who told him to take a hike.

So far, all legitimate tests have rated V1 as #1.

Besides....are you going to trust someone who is trying to sell strobelight kits for your A4 on his site?????

The Dirt on Craig Peterson

If anyone is interested, here is the way into the user programmable features of the V1...got this from a C5 forum I used to be part of...it all works (just check the version as it states).

I've turned off the X band (here in SW FL, it only alerts me to the local Publix) and activated the soft bogey lock tone...nice- when muted, it doesn't chirp in at full volume when it picks up another bogey...

http://www.naplesfl.net/~pgstickney/V1_Program.htm</a

When I drove your car back from Melbourne, your V1 was going off constantly due to X band. I am 99.9% sure that no one uses X band anymore (check with Green), so I disabled mine.

Mike:

We'd have mentioned the V1's "programmable" features had they been so.
Modern detectors can be programmed in a few seconds even at highway speeds.
The V1's few "programmable" features are accessible after perhaps five
minutes' worth of twiddling, a task easily performed by the average graduate
EE but not something we'd recommend while trying to drive at the same time.
Perhaps this is the reason why Valentine fails to mention the "programmable"
features in the owner manual. If you've experienced the six to nine
programmable features found on modern detectors you'll have noticed that
they're intended to customize the detector's operation to user tastes,
everything from alternate sets of audio tones to different types of visual
displays, not to mention the ability to deactivate specific radar
frequencies.
