I'm having the same problem you described with the floor and interior lights flashing in sync with the door chime. Did you get it fixed?

View Full Version : New Owner Observations Bruce T 10-31-1999, 09:58 AM I'm having the same problem you described with the floor and interior lights flashing in sync with the door chime. Did you get it fixed? Randy 11-03-1999, 09:00 AM After 3,300 miles here are my observations on my A4 using a simple Hit/Miss list. Hits * Styling/design - looks great inside and out * Fun to drive - great for manueving around town and plenty of HP for interstate driving * Convenience features - lots of features that make the car user friendly (i.e. - ability to turn off annoying "key in ignition" bell, one touch windows and moon roof, hood release in grill, lights come on when removing key from ignition, opening/closing windows with door key, etc, etc.) * Tilt/telescope steering and power adjustable seats * Ergonomics * Handling * So far, zero problems with the car Misses * Cruise control stalk - easily the poorest designed part of the car * Brake Dust * Seats - would it kill them to put in a little more padding? * Basic storage (i.e. -sunglasses, garage door opener) Wish List * Leather and Bose should be standard for $32,000 * Larger trunk (my golf clubs only fit diagonally) Randy 99.5 2.8QMS Black/Ecru leatherette Shabbis 11-03-1999, 09:44 AM Dominic 11-03-1999, 09:45 AM Just a note to those of you in IL who are unfortunate enough to crash their Audi in IL. I crashed my two week old A4 Avant on the morning of September 29th, I gave it to Highland Park Audi Exchange the same day and after 4 weeks of not even touching the car, they gave it to The ultimate paint shop in Glencoe (I think, and now on the 03 of Nov., they still have not ordered all the parts. They may be the largest volume dealer in the mid west, but they are a bunch of morons when it comes to their service department. So now 5 weeks later I am still without my car. I should have imported some obscure unheared of car from the Ukraine, as I would have had all the parts by now!! i hope nobody else has the nasty expierience of dealing with these mooks! James V. Reagan 11-03-1999, 10:06 AM One reason I'm staying away from BMW is their poor reputation for service in the Chicago area. Has anyone had any good experiences with Audi dealers in Chicago? Dissatisfied 11-03-1999, 12:05 PM Every time I have brought my car in for service, they have screwed something else up - even for an oil change! Is it that we have the cheapest car they sell at this Porsche-Audi dealer, and thus their poorest service, or are they equally incompetent with the $80K Porsches as well? Their customer feedback process is a joke, and has produced no change. Anupam Razdan 11-03-1999, 10:26 PM Can't say enough about MVP Vw/ Audi in Merrillville, Indiana. Located at 3990 E. Lincoln Hwy (Take 80E to 65S to Rt. 30 East). The service manager, Hal, is friendly and knowledgeable and appreciates silicon enhanced vehicles (hint!). They just underwent an ownership change and will be moving into a new building in the spring. For those of us in the south suburbs, they are actually a little closer than Chicago! Randy 11-08-1999, 08:38 AM If you open the door and the bell goes off just remove and then reinsert the key. The alarm will stop. This only works on a per instance basis, not a one time fix. But, I thought it was a nice feature. Also, this only works with the inition "off". Randy 11-08-1999, 08:39 AM If you open the door and the bell goes off just remove and then reinsert the key.
