View Full Version : Swirl mark removers available in Europe? ...
ex-quattro PETE 09-09-2003, 12:44 PM Anyone know anything decent that's available in Europe to remove swirl marks? Or just let me know what you guys use in the US and I'll try to see if I can get it over here in Poland. The swirl marks on my mom's half a year old red V40 don't let me sleep at night - a result of her taking the car to a hand car wash. :-(
They have Swirl Mark Remover in their product line.
Meguiares also sells a swirl mark remover (#9?), if you can get your hands on that.
I like Menzerna Polishes...apparently it's made in Germany, don't know where though.
Einzette polishes might be another option...again, not sure if that's a product you can get your hands on.
So there is a list of stuff for ya...run around and see what you can find locally.
ex-quattro PETE 09-10-2003, 12:36 AM I know Meguiar's doesn't have a distribution channel in Poland (hmm... maybe I should sign a deal with them because it's gonna suck when I run out of their Gold Class shampoo and won't be able to get more ;-)), but I'll look for others you mentioned. Thanks again!
ex-quattro PETE 09-10-2003, 12:39 AM Is this the thing from Meguiar's lineup that you were referring to? I could order it online from Meguiar's Europe, although it's expensive...

http://www.meguiars.com/europe/product_showroom/showproducts_template.cfm?SrcLine=CP&SrcCat=2</a

no guarantees that it actually gets there...but I can try if you like.
I've seen people use it to spot treat areas on their paint, but never seen anybody use it to do the whole car. Not sure what's in it, or if it's safe to slather that stuff over the entire car. I would email Meguiares about that question.
I was referring to number 9...which I believe is a fine swirl mark remover. I've never used it, so I can't really relate any personal experience. Most of my experience is with Menzerna...before that I was really skittish about putting something abrasive on my paint.
ex-quattro PETE 09-10-2003, 03:58 AM That's very kind of you. If all else fails, I might take you up on it. I'm trying to avoid shipping anything from the US because I don't know how much import duties the Polish customs is going to make me pay. :-(

If not, then get the other one. Now, let's see if there is anything like this in 3M's Polish product line-up...

http://www21.3m.com/dr/v2/ec_MAIN.Entry24?SP=10023&PN=1&V1=267736&xid=28181& search_id=140241
Dave M 09-10-2003, 06:48 AM It looks like you cannot get the Meguiar's professional line in Europe. From the consumer line you would want the Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner followed by the Deep Crystal Polish (followed by your favorite wax). And wow, those prices do seem really high - the Deep Crystal line is generally < $10 US a bottle. Maybe the 3M products will cost less, if you can get them.
IHG only has fillers and oils in it. Does a nice job of cleaning and prepping the paint for wax, but any improvements are temporary. A few car washes will wash away the fillers, and you'll see the swirls again.
the Swirl Mark Remover is the stuff I was talking about. This stuff is a mild polish...it will remove swirl marks by leveling the paint. It's fairly mild stuff...so it make take a bit of work to get the swirls out if you're working the paint by hand. Give it a shot on one panel, and once you get a feel for the amount of effort required to do one panel, move on to the rest of the car.
lovintt 09-10-2003, 07:44 AM There are two good swirl mark removers...3M Perfect-It and Meguiars #9. You can get both at the sponsors website. They will ship to you.

Good Luck with it!
lovintt 09-10-2003, 01:02 PM Yes they have it for light or dark colors
LaserRed_OC 09-10-2003, 10:17 PM I did it once, now wondering if it did more harm than good?
Dave M 09-11-2003, 05:14 AM I guess I just view it more as a spot treatment product even though Meguiar's says it is safe for whole car use. I do have some that I tried on a light scratch, and the product seems to be really mild so I doubt if it would do any harm using it on the whole car. Plus the price per tube is pretty high if you are doing a whole car with it, compared to something like Meguiar's #9 which seems to be just about as an agressive of a product and also contains a small amount of polishing oils. I just think there are better products out there for whole car use.
