View Full Version : OK, What does everyone use to detail their wheel wells ?? Al Pollack 07-30-2001, 03:51 PM John P. (TT 225) 07-30-2001, 04:13 PM P21S auto shampoo, water, and a terry cloth towel! Al Pollack 07-30-2001, 04:24 PM ssi 07-30-2001, 05:07 PM the same stuff I use on my tires. A great product with multiple uses. For detailing after cleaning I would suggest either Vinylex or 303 Aerospace Protectant. John P. (TT 225) 07-30-2001, 07:31 PM No, generally I like them to be clean but not shiny. I'd hate to do anything that draws attention to the TT's stock (high) ride height. RKA 07-31-2001, 02:09 PM This stuff is a citrus based cleaner/degreaser, not a car wash. I like it for cleaning the engine, front windshield, and any black trim around the car. I don't clean my wheel wells, but I imagine it would work well there. John P. I follow up the brush with an old wash mit. Be sure to always use a seperate bucket for this procedure. About once a month I go over the black plastic liners with a protectant like Vinylex or Groit's Rubber and Vinyl Dressing. I'm amazed this area looks as good as the day I purchased the car. I know it is extreme but you would be amazed how little time it takes for that "just built" look. Just my .02 Vince Krey 08-02-2001, 06:27 AM Rick M. - blasphemy is right! It's terrible (to me anyway) to see a carefully cleaned car with crappy looking wheel wells. I use a brush and old wash mit. Griotts makes a speed spray designed for wheel wells. Kind of a temporary oil spray to shine things up. What I do now is every two years, take the wheels off, clean and prep the wells, mask and cover EVERYTHING (paint overspray sucks), then go at the wells with Rustoleum satin black. When I first got my Audi, the fenderwells were white (well, they should have been, but like, right, how do you keep white fenderwells white? Screw that.) Anyway, at the same time I also spray the lower part of my 90's body. Details, details.... nick n 08-23-2001, 06:15 PM I thought I was bad :) I spray mine w/the hose on the weekends...especially if it had rained thoughout the week and I happend to get caught (gasp) driving in it. hehe.. cheers Al, |
